SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING SEL

Social Emotional learning is critical in re-engaging students, supporting our staff and students, rebuilding relationships, and building the foundation for academic success.

    • Counselors will follow the American School Counselors’ Standards for School Counseling, and the NJDOE’s SEL Competencies. 

    • School-wide implementation of social emotional activities 

    • School-wide implementation of mindfulness practices 

    • Activities to help students transition back to school. 

    • Elementary counselors planned socialization lessons for K-2 students and SEL activities for grades 3-5. 

    • Middle School counselors planned an in-person 6th grade orientation and SEL activities for all students. 

    • High School counselors planned a 9th grade in-person orientation and the Ti Peer Group created welcome back videos for all students to view. Self- Care video for Health/PE classes 

    • Provide staff and families with online resources relating to social emotional learning. 

    • “Wellness Wednesdays” - counselors will provide virtual social emotional learning activities for students as well as a virtual “Drop-In”, “Lunch Bunch”, “Coffee with the Counselor” group for students to socialize with each other and the counselors. 

    • Provide virtual social emotional counseling groups. 

    • Counselors will follow monthly themes related to social emotional learning. 

    • Provide community resources as they relate to: 

    • Mental health counseling 

    • Grief counseling 

    • Managing Anxiety 

    • Community Food Banks 

    • COVID-19 Community Resources
